A Belated Update.

March 14th, 2010

In case you’re wondering what we’ve been up to these days, the answer is: a lot! We’ve been conspicuously off the radar specifically because we’ve been so busy. But, that also means you haven’t heard much from us lately, so apologies for that.

So, here’s what’s new:

It’s official. We’ve gotten our paperwork from the state which has finally allowed us to get our bank account established. This is excellent news since now we will be able to accept donations, and collect any pledges of support which you may have made previously.

We’ve just included a PayPal link to accept donations, and once our 501(c)3 status is approved, we will also be participating in Network for Good, which many of you may be familiar with in conjunction with other Evanston not for profits. In the meantime, any donations made now will be tax-deductible retroactively once not for profit status is approved. Now is the time, and this is the place to make your donation for any pledge you may previously have made.

Our new website is in the works, so soon you will have easier access to our news, information, documents and other helpful tools. Getting the back-end logistics together has taken longer than we thought and we are grateful for our volunteer web team for their dedication and hard work.

For now, click on the links above to learn more about Membership, our Kids’ Read-a-Thon, Upcoming Eventsincluding our next Volunteer Meeting to be held Tuesday, March 23 at 7PM. at South Branch. Please try to come!
